William "Curtis" Cromwell

William "Curtis" Cromwell was born in San Antonio, Texas, on March 12th, 1943, to Oliver Wendell Cromwell and Margaret Isobel Cromwell. He passed from this life on Friday, August 18, 2023 at his home in Yukon, OK. Curtis is survived by his wife Mary Ellen, his sons Brad (and wife Jennifer), and Brandon (and wife Heather), his 10 grandchildren, his two brothers, and many nieces and nephews.

Curtis moved to Oklahoma in 1946. He married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Thompson, in 1968. They had two sons and 10 grandchildren throughout their beautiful 55 year marriage.

Being a third-generation attendee of Oklahoma State University, Curtis loved and supported the school for the rest of his life. Before he passed, he was able to see his children and grandchildren attend, meaning his family is on their fifth generation of Cowboys, a fact that Curtis was incredibly proud of. No one can ever question that his blood ran orange.

Curtis worked for GE for 35 years and won multiple awards for his inspiring work ethic. From 1965-1971, Curtis served his country in the Air National Guard. He was involved in weekly volunteering at his church, Lakeside United Methodist Church, where he was a member for 52 years. Along with this, he served on the Surrey Hills HOA, where he left a lasting impact on his beloved neighborhood.

Curtis loved serving and working alongside his two sons, Brad and Brandon. He volunteered with Yukon wrestling for 34 years, starting in Brandon's school years and continuing through Brandon's many years as the wrestling coach. Curtis helped Brad's family with their farm for six years, and during his final years before he passed, Curtis was a full-time farmer for 3 1/2 years, working cattle with Brad 5-6 days each week.

Curtis loved camping, hunting, practical jokes, detective novels, country and western music, and time with his friends and family. Curtis Cromwell was an amazing man who was well-loved and admired by many. His life had an impact that continues to reach far and wide.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church, Yukon, OK. A private family interment will take place at the Yukon Cemetery at a later date.
