Shirley Jean Von Tungeln

Shirley Jean Tinsley Von Tungeln passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

Shirley was born in Okarche, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma on November 9, 1948.  As a young child, she attended Mountain View School was located north of El Reno.  At the age of 14 she started attending El Reno High School where she met the young man she would later marry.  She was a graduate of Weatherford High School, class of 1967,

On September 2, 1966, Shirley married the love of her life, John Von Tungeln.  During their 55-year marriage they resided in El Reno, Weatherford, Oklahoma City, and Yukon, OK as well as Houston, TX and Huntsville, AL.

Shirley was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many and various capacities.

She was a loving daughter to her parents Charles Overton Tinsley and Montie Lee Daniels Tinsley and loving sister to her only sibling and brother Charles Don Tinsley.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She loved spending time with her family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Charles Overton Tinsley, and her brother, Charles Don Tinsley.  She is survived by her husband, John Dale Von Tungeln, and their four children:  son Derek of Huntsville, AL; daughter Stacey Bopp and son-in-law Jason Bopp of Gulf Breeze, FL; daughter Lezlee Von Tungeln of Yukon, OK, and daughter Amy Dobbs and son-in-law Mike Dobbs of Yukon OK. Additionally she is survived by her mother, Montie Lee Tinsley; 7 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be at Yanda & Son Funeral Home located at 1500 W. Vandament Ave., Yukon, OK from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 19, 2021. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 12020 N. Mustang Rd, Yukon, OK on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 3:00 pm., with interment following at the El Reno Cemetery, El Reno, OK.
